The benefits of artificial nails
The biggest advantage is definitely the appearance. Well-groomed hands look feminine and polished—who wouldn’t want that? Plus, they’re easy and quick to apply, even if you’re doing it yourself. Do you have nails that break easily or do you bite your nails? Artificial nails can also be a solution in that case. Your natural nails are much less likely to get damaged because they are protected by the artificial nail.
The preparation
As we mentioned earlier, there are different types of artificial nails, but the preparation is always the same. With the right preparation, you ensure that your nails stay beautiful for as long as possible. File your nails to the right length, gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher, and then buff your entire nail with a file. Clean your nails thoroughly so that the artificial nails or nail polish can adhere well. Then you’re ready to apply them.

The care of artificial nails
Got your artificial nails applied? Great! Now it’s important to keep them looking nice for as long as possible. We have tips for that too.
- Cuticle oil is a must to take care of your nails as best as possible. The stronger your natural nail, the longer the artificial nail will stay on.
- Be careful with them. The more you use them to open things, the faster they will break. They are not can openers. :-)
- Do you work a lot with cleaning products? Use gloves as often as possible to protect your nails.
- If you often bump your nails, they might be too long. Choose a shorter version next time to keep them longer.
- Never pull an artificial nail off your natural nail! This can still damage your own nail. Choose a safe method, such as acetone or nail remover pads.
- A hand cream never hurts either.
