It's well known that good skin depends on the right care. But there are so many different types of skincare. Think of micellar water, cleansing oils, ampoules, toners, serums... It never ends. What is the right way to care for your face and in what order? We'll highlight a few for you.

Toner
After cleansing your face, you can choose to use a toner. A toner ensures that your skin is completely cleansed again. Keep in mind, it is NOT a product to remove your makeup! It's really for the residues that remain. With a toner, you remove the last traces of makeup and any cleanser left behind. This helps to restore balance to your skin. A toner can work both hydrating and mattifying, so pay attention to what your skin needs. Do you struggle with many imperfections? Then this toner might be perfect for you. You can use a toner both in the morning and in the evening.

Essence
An essence is a somewhat lesser-known and fairly new product. It has come over from Asia and you can think of it as a liquid skin booster. You use it after the toner. An essence hydrates your skin so well that your serum and cream will be absorbed even better afterward. You pat an essence into your skin with your fingers, after using the toner and before applying a facial cream. You can also use an essence twice a day.

Serum
A serum contains a high concentration of active ingredients and is therefore often a bit more expensive. Typically, a serum focuses on one aspect of the skin. For example, intensive hydration or anti-aging. Or what about this vitamin C serum from NIP+FAB? A serum gives your skin an intense boost without weighing it down. They are often very lightweight, making them a pleasure to apply.

Day and night cream
As the name suggests, these are definitely not the same product. There is indeed a big difference between day and night cream. A day cream is primarily developed to protect the skin from external damage and is lighter, so your makeup applies well afterward. Moreover, most day creams contain SPF, which is of course unnecessary at night. A night cream, on the other hand, is more focused on repairing and calming the skin, something it can take its time to do at night. Our favorite is this night cream that fights skin aging. Whether you use day or night cream, always make sure to apply it on a clean face. Oh, and don't forget your neck!

Primer
A primer is used before applying your makeup and after applying your day cream. A primer contains silicones that effectively 'fill in' imperfections and fine lines, allowing your makeup to adhere much better. A primer essentially creates a layer over your skin. It's often thought that a primer seals the skin, but this is not true. You can think of it as a kind of 'mesh' through which certain substances can still pass. Our favorite? This primer from Gosh makes your makeup glow like never before. Want to know more about primer? We've previously written an extensive blog about primer, you can read it here.
